After limping to a 1-1 draw in normal time, Leeds lost to the Championship side 3-0 on penalties to cap off a miserable night at Hillsborough on Tuesday. Manager Farke congratulated the Owls for their second round win but said this was an "annoying" result for his team.

He said after the game: "We have to take all of the criticism and we are self-critical because out of all the chances we should put four or five goals to bed. It's always a bit annoying and you feel a bit embarrassed as a Premier League side, but we have been involved in so many games on this level, especially in the cup – this is why there are so many surprises and shock results. Even the team in the lower league can win such a game. Today was one of those days, and congratulations to Sheffield Wednesday."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Leeds started the season brightly with a 1-0 Premier League win over Everton but a 5-0 thrashing by Arsenal, and now this loss to Wednesday, whose fans boycotted the contest to show their discontent at owner Dejphon Chansiri, has dampened the mood around the Whites. Farke failed with Norwich City in the Premier League in the past, and if results don't improve soon, pressure will ramp up on the German.
