According to a report by Ghanasoccerweb on Sunday, Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is reportedly a target for Premier League side Arsenal, and their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur must hijack any move.
What’s the word, then?
Well, Ghanasoccerweb report that the Gunners and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are keen on the versatile 25-year-old – who can play in the middle of the park or at right-back – after he has become frustrated at a lack of starts for the La Liga club this season.
Given he is defensively-minded his addition at the Emirates Stadium would be a little confusing given it is the more attacking Aaron Ramsey they could be set to lose either in January or when his contract expires next summer, with them already having Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny in their ranks.
The report adds that the north London outfit are ready to reignite previous interest in the Ghana international, who could fall further down the pecking order if Diego Simeone gets his wish and brings a new midfielder to the Spanish capital.
Why should Tottenham hijack any deal?
It appears that in January the centre of the pitch could be Mauricio Pochettino’s main priority if he does indeed decide to strengthen his team having failed to make a single signing during the summer transfer window.

With Mousa Dembele in a similar situation to that of Ramsey and Victor Wanyama’s future also looking to be in doubt, the Argentine boss may well need another defensive midfield option and Partey would certainly fit the bill.
Despite his lack of starts this term, the 25-year-old did make 50 appearances in all competitions for Atletico last season and has been a regular from the substitutes’ bench during the current campaign, and he would be 10 times better than Wanyama, whose performances have drawn criticism from Spurs fans on Twitter.
