The Daily Mail have today reported that Liverpool are set to try again in their attempt to capture Max Clayton, the 17 year old striker who currently plays for Crewe.
Clayton is now attracting attention from elsewhere, and this is making Liverpool uncomfortable, as not only have Spurs already stated their interest, but with the Youth Cup tie against Huddersfield drawing the attention of United, Arsenal and City, King Kenny’s side are looking to step up their approach.
Having already representing England at Under 17’s level and after an notable run in the youth cup, Clayton has taken to first team action at Crewe like a duck to water, looking more than comfortable during his 13 sub appearances, and with only one start under his belt, he already has 2 goals to his name.
The young sensation has impressed at Crewe and is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in League football, yet with a host of clubs around him, not to mention the fact that Dario Gradi – director of football at Crewe – feels that the lad is not fully developed yet and needs to be nurtured at his current club, Liverpool may look to gain the boy’s signature by promising to loan him back to his current club until the end of the season.
